Castello di Ama

Ama is a small village between the hills of Chianti: you find it in the municipality of Gaiole in Chianti, in the province of Siena, where the vineyards alternate with olive orchards and forests. The Castello di Ama estate is recognized as a winery of utmost excellence in the panaromic of international wine, and also as an important seat in the realm of contemporary art with site-specific operas by artists of caliber such as Michelangelo Pistoletto, Anish Kapoor, Louise Bourgeois, and Hiroshi Sugimoto.

The estate, born out of love by four Roman families in 1972, currently holds a total of 230 hectares of which 80 are cultivated to vineyards and 40 to olive trees, at an average altitude of 480 meters.

The production, derived exclusively from the estate's own vineyards, is about 300,000 bottles per year, finding its paradigm in the "Castello di Ama San Lorenzo", an authentic ambassador of Chianti Classico
